Microsoft Xbox, at the Tokyo Video Fair TGS 2025, revealed that the latest race for racing, Forza Horizon 6 (extreme speed: horizon 6) staged Japan, and the official confirmation in recent days that this will bring the largest game map in the series to date.
An interview of the official post of the Xbox Wire blog with the foreign media GamesRadar+, The Extreme Race: Horizon 6, the art director of the development team, Don Arceta, shares the design of the game with the cultural adviser Kyoko Yamayama.
Arceta states that since the beginning of the “extreme race: horizon” the players have never stopped calling for the “Japan stage” and that, with the accumulation of technology and performance over the years, Japan can now be re-emerged in the right and detailed manner.
“A stage like Japan has only one chance, so it has to be the best.”
Arceta points out that Japan has a “comparable streetside scene” from a narrow and festive street, to a whistling mountain road and an open plain, with four seasons of change of great significance in Japanese culture and will be reflected in game experiences for players.
In the early stages of team development, Kyoko Yamashita, who is familiar with Japanese culture and is also a lifelong fan of cars, was invited to serve as a consultant to ensure that not only look faithful, but also the atmosphere and detail are as close to reality.
In an interview with JamesRadar+, Arceta made it clear that the map of Japan will be the “largest” and “best” stage in the history of the series. “The map is not just big, it’s tight, and there’s always something new after every corner.”
Arceta also specifically named Tokyo as the most ambitious urban design in the series: “Tokyo is a three-dimensional and complex space in which players enjoy a whole new exploration.”
DLC Hot Wheels, even drawing on the technology of Extreme Race: Horizon 5, has staggered Mexico’s high-speed races into the Tokyo metropolitan area to bring them closer to the real city level.
It is worth noting that the map of Mexico is already about 100 square kilometres at the limit speed: horizon 5, while the limit speed: horizon 6 will be further expanded and is expected to be far ahead of schedule.
The Maximum Race: Horizon 6 is expected to land PC, Xbox Series X|S in 2026 and to launch later the PS5 version, which is currently available in Steam.
